What is Animal Communication?
All humans have the ability to communicate with animals and our animals are great communicators. Observation of an animals behavior is perhaps the most common way that people pick up information about their animal. We can learn a lot by watching an animal but it can also interfere with our ability to hear what the animal really wants to communicate. It is important to keep in mind that when we use our observation skills we are analyzing from a human perspective. From my experience animals differ greatly from humans in the way they view life. Animals communicate with one another by thoughts, images and feelings. They can continue to communicate with other animals that no longer live with them in this way.
Animals communicate with their humans by putting out thoughts and images to them. You may be driving to work and suddenly have the thought that Winston needs some soup bones. Where do you think that thought came from? Of course it came from Winston! We humans tend to orient ourselves physically and think that we can only pick up information by our observation of sight. This manner of taking in information has many limitations when we consider that it is biased toward observing humans. We know that making assumptions by observing our own species can be limiting what about another species altogether.
Animal communication from the perspective of this work is all about listening to the animal and asking questions. When asked to communicate with an animal I take a few moments to quiet my mind and then I start to talk with the animal. I ask questions in my head or I write them down. I immediately receive responses and I feel the unique personality of the animal and I feel their level of contentment. It comes to me in a wave of emotion that often overwhelms me, but most often it is an overwhelming feeling of love and delight. The information comes to me in words, images, and feelings. I usually like to talk with the animal for a few minutes to get to know them then I call their human and we begin our consultation.During the consultation I ask the animal whatever the human would like to know and I like to give the animal the opportunity to express whatever the animal wishes. It is interesting that the humans have concern for their animals and the animals generally have information for their humans. I rarely meet my client's pets in person, but yet I have the most intimate and profound connections with them. I never cease to be amazed by the love and wisdom that they share. I learn something new everyday and based on what I have learned I have changed my views about life over the years that have brought me great joy, understanding and peace.
I serve as a translator for the humans and the animals relaying information back and forth until everyone is comfortable with the information and there are no additional questions. Common topics include; the animal's health, behavior, food allergies and sensitivities, the animal's preferences in the transition of death, questions about adopting another animal companion, questions about travel with the animal, travel without the animal and its preferences in care at home, in addition to questions for animals that serve as a team with their human in competition.
I feel great passion in teaching others to do what I do. As I said before we all have the ability we just have to remember to listen. I enjoy working with students in reminding them how to do this. I cannot describe how it feels to feel a student remember their communication the first time. It is a fantastic feeling!
It is my desire to remind as many people as possible of this gift because I think that this world will be an even more amazing place when we hear the love and wisdom of all the life around us.
